Sebastian Kawa flying the glider GP 14 VELO won gold medal at the 2nd 13.5m Class WGC in Szatymaz, Hungary July 3rd -16th, 2017. Glider GP 14 VELO was created within the project „Light and high-performance glider with innovative wing design” co-financed by the Operational Programme Innovative economy. Project was conducted by Institute of Aviation and company PESZKE S.C. from Krosno.
At the beginning of the year 2017 the resonant tests of Icaré II XX electric motor glider (http://www.icare-solar.de) was performed within the framework of the agreement reached last year between the Institute of Aviation and the Technical University of Stuttgart. The motor glider was designed and built in 1996 by students of the Institute of Aircraft Construction at the University of Stuttgart (Universität Stuttgart IFB).
On 24 May 2016 the Institute of Aviation hosted a seminar exploring the technologies and methods required for conducting world-class mechanical testing of aerospace materials, components and full-scale structures. The event was organised by the Materials and Structures Research Centre of the Institute of Aviation and ELHYS, an official representative of MTS in Poland.
The Materials and Structures Research Center (MSRC), a part of the Institute of Aviation, has performed the ground vibration test (GVT) of Slovenian Pipistrel Virus SW 121 airplane. Based on the results of the GVT, the flutter computational analysis, including control surface balancing masses determination, has also been performed at the MSRC.
