Symposium on Stress Measurement and Interpretation
For the eighth time, the employees of the Materials and Structures Research Center participated in the Symposium on Stress Measurement and Interpretation (SPINA). This time the meeting took place in the Institute of Materials Science of the University of Silesia in Chorzów.
The first meeting of SPINA members took place in 2011 in the Institute of Aviation and was held on the initiative of Elżbieta Gadalińska and Andrzej Wojtas, the representative of Metlab company from Wrocław. The symposium is a meeting of researchers and industry representatives, dealing with stress analysis, mainly by means of diffraction methods. During this year’s meeting, presentations of colleagues from the AGH University of Science and Technology, the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals (Light Metals Division in Skawina), the University of Silesia and the Metlab company were presented. The meeting was also an opportunity to present the offer of the recently modernized X-ray Diffraction Laboratory of the Aviation Institute. During the meeting, research laboratories of the Institute of Materials Science were visited, among others, the diffractometry laboratory with a monocrystalline diffractometer and the microscopy laboratory. Many valuable talks were held, which will enable the improvement of the offer of the X-ray Diffraction Laboratory of the Aviation Institute. Talks with industry representatives (e.g. Pratt & Whitney) in the future will allow to establish commercial cooperation in the field of diffraction stress analysis.
During the symposium, it was decided that it was necessary to expand the group established eight years ago. It was decided to promote the SPINA meetings and the group’s activity in social media and the Internet so that information about it could reach as many recipients as possible, mainly from the industry. Dr. Eng. Elżbieta Gadalińska undertook this task.
